SATAN THE ENEMY OF HAZRAT ADAM (pbuh), AND HIS POSTERITY 

THIS IS A SAMPLE STUDY

And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: “I am going to create a man (adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. ( Al-Hijr, Chapter #15, Verse #28) – And indeed We created man (adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 

(Al-Mumenoon, Chapter #23, Verse #12) -So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him.” (Al-Hijr, Chapter #15, Verse #29) He created man (adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. ( Al-Rahman, Chapter #55, Verse #14)– And among His Signs is this, that He created you (adam) from dust, and then (Hawwa (Eve) from adams rib, and then his offspring from the semen, and), – behold you are human beings scattered! 

(Ar-Room, Chapter #30, Verse #20) “Verily, the likeness of Iesa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: “Be!” – and he was. (Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #59). 

(2-30) Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: “I will create a vicegerent on earth.” They said: “Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?” He said: “I know what ye know not.” (2-31) And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before the angels, and said: “Tell me the names of these if ye are right.” (2-32) They said: “Glory to Thee, of knowledge We have none, save what Thou Hast taught us: In truth it is Thou Who art perfect in knowledge and wisdom.” (2-33) He said: “O Adam! Tell them their natures.” When he had told them, Allah said: “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth, and I know what ye reveal and what ye conceal?” (2-34) And behold, We said to the angels: “Bow down to Adam” and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: and He was of those who reject Faith.  (remember) when We said to the angels; “Prostrate to Adam.” So they prostrated except Iblees (satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblees) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimoon (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc). (Al-Kahf, Chapter #18, Verse #50) And (remember) when We said to the angels: “Prostrate yourselves before Adam.”. And they prostrated except Iblees (satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah). (Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #34)) – Except Iblees (satan) he was proud and was one of the disbelievers. (Sad, Chapter #38, Verse #74) / (7-11/20-16) And We said: “O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimoon (wrong-doers).” (2-35/7-19) Then We said: “O adam! Verily, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So let him not get you both out of Paradise, so that you be distressed in misery. (Taha, Chapter #20, Verse #117)- Then Shaitan (satan) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals.” -(Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #20) haitan (Satan) whispered to him, saying: “O adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?” (Taha, Chapter #20, Verse #120). And he (Shaitan (satan)) swore by Allah to them both (saying): “Verily, I am one of the sincere wellwishers for you both”. (Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #21)-Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts appeared to them, and they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering. Thus did adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray.  (Taha, Chapter #20, Verse #121) And indeed We made a covenant with adam before, but he forgot, and We found on his part no firm will-power. (Taha, Chapter #20, Verse #115)- Did I not ordain for you, O Children of adam, that you should not worship Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you. (Ya Seen, Chapter #36, Verse #60)- We said: “Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever. (2-38,39)- O Children of adam! If there come to you Messengers from amongst you, reciting to you, My Verses, then whosoever becomes pious and righteous, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #35)- Children of adam! Let not Shaitan (Satan) deceive you, as he got your parents (adam and Hawwa (Eve)) out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts. Verily, he and Qabeeluhu (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We made the Shayatin (devils) Auliya (protectors and helpers) for those who believe not. (Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #27)- O Children of adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc.) and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better. Such are among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, that they may remember (i.e. leave falsehood and follow truth). (Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #26)”. And indeed We have honoured the Children of adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference. (Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #70)
And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adams loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): “Am I not your Lord?” They said: “Yes! We testify,” lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: “Verily, we have been unaware of this.” And indeed We have put forth every kind of example in this Quran, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything. (Al-Kahf, Chapter #18, Verse #54)

ALLAH ASKS HIS EXPLANATION

Allah said: “O Iblees (satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?”—“Allah said: “O Iblees (satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?”

EHNIC PRIDE-JEALOUSY-  REASONS GIVEN BY SATAN     

(Iblees (satan)) said: “I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.” (17-61) -Iblees (satan)) said: “I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay.”  (Sad, Chapter #38, Verse #76)/ – O my father! Worship not Shaitan (satan). Verily! Shaitan (satan) has been a rebel against the Most Beneficent (Allah).  (Chapter #19/44)

SATAN DECIDES TO TAKE REVENGE FROM ADAM AND HIS CHILDREN  

Allah cursed him. And he (Shaitan (satan)) said: “I will take an appointed portion of your slaves; (An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #118)- Then Shaitan (satan) whispered to him, saying: “O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?” (20-120)-And Then the Shaitan (satan) made them slip therefrom (the Paradise), and got them out from that in which they were. We said: “Get you down, all, with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time”. (Al-Baqara,Chapter #2, Verse #36)

SATAN SEEKS  PERMISSION FOR RESPITE FROM ALLAH TO MISLEAD HUMANBEINGS

Iblees (satan) said: “See? This one whom You have honoured above me, if You give me respite (keep me alive) to the Day of Resurrection, I will surely seize and mislead his offspring (by sending them astray) all but a few!” (Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #62)- Iblees (satan) said: “O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected.” (#15, #36)(38-79)—Iblees (satan) said: “By Your Might, then I will surely mislead them all, (Sad, Chapter #38, Verse #82)- (Iblees (satan)) said: “O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. (Chapter #15, Verse #39)- verily, I will mislead them, and surely, I will arouse in them false desires; and certainly, I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and indeed I will order them to change the nature created by Allah.” And whoever takes Shaitan (satan) as a Walee (protector or helper) instead of Allah, has surely suffered a manifest loss. (An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #119))- And indeed he (satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand? (36-62)

PERMISSION TO SATAN CONSIDERED A TRIAL AND TEST  FOR BELIEVERS

That He (Allah) may make what is thrown in by Shaitan (satan) a trial for those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy and disbelief) and whose hearts are hardened. And certainly, the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) are in an opposition far-off (from the truth against Allahs Messenger and the believers). (Al-Hajj, Chapter #22, Verse #53)

SATAN DECLARED AS ENEMY OF ADAM AND HIS OFFSPRINGS

Did I not ordain for you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitan (satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you.  (36-60)- And let not Shaitan (satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (satan) to you is a plain enemy. (43-62)- That I will fill Hell with you (Iblees (satan)) and those of them (mankind) that follow you, together”. (85-38)-  Surely, Shaitan (satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of  the blazing Fire (Fatir, Chapter #35, Verse #6)- Say (O Muhammad SAW): “The truth (the Quran and Allahs Inspiration) has come, and AlBatil (falsehood – Iblees (satan)) can neither create anything nor resurrect (anything)”. (Saba, Chapter #34, Verse #49)

SAFETY FROM SATAN  

Truly, Allah defends those who believe. Verily! Allah likes not any treacherous ingrate to Allah (those who disobey Allah but obey Shaitan (satan)). (22-38)- And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan (satan) then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (7-200)- And he (Iblees satan) had no authority over them, except that We might test him, who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt about it. And your Lord is a Hafiz over everything. (All Knower of everything i.e. He keeps record of each and every person as regards deeds, and then He will reward them accordingly). (Saba, Chapter #34, Verse #21)- O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy.  (Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #208)- O mankind! Verily, the Promise of Allah is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (satan) deceive you about Allah. (Fatir, Chapter #35, Verse #5)- So when you want to recite the Quran, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (satan), the outcast (the cursed one). (16-98)- And say to My slaves (i.e. the true believers of Islamic Monotheism) that they should (only) say those words that are the best. (Because) Shaitan (satan) verily, sows disagreements among them. Surely, Shaitan (satan) is to man a plain enemy. (17-53)- And say: “Truth (i.e. Islamic Monotheism or this Quran or Jihad against polytheists) has come and Batil has vanished. Surely! Batil is ever bound to vanish.” (Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #81) (4-10) And if an evil whisper from Shaitan (satan) tries to turn you away (O Muhammad SAW) (from doing good, etc.), then seek refuge in Allah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.(Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #36) 

METHODS USED BY SATAN TO MISGUIDE AND HARM HUMANBEINGS

1. HE  LOOKS FOR THE WEEK AND REBELIOUS

And recite (O Muhammad SAW) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away, so Shaitan (satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray. (Chapter #7, Verse #175)- And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (satandevil) to be a Qareen (an intimate companion) to him. (Chapter #43, Verse #36)- Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his Qareen (satan / devil companion)) “Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)” a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! (Chapter #43, Verse #38)

2. EVIL WHISPERING

And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan (satan) then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (7-200) Verily, those who are Al-Muttaqoon , when an evil thought comes to them from Shaitan (satan), they remember (Allah), and (indeed) they then see (aright). (Chapter #7, Verse #201) 

3. FALSE DESIRES

He (Shaitan (satan)) makes promises to them, and arouses in them false desires; and Shaitans (satan) promises are nothing but deceptions. (4-120)– And when it is said to them: “Follow that which Allah has sent down”, they say: “Nay, we shall follow that which we found our fathers (following)”. (Would they do so) even if Shaitan (satan) invites them to the torment of the Fire. (Chapter #4, Verse #38)

4. INTOXICATION

O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, AlAnsab, and AlAzlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitans (satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful. (5-90)

5. DECEPTION

So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): “Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan (satan) is an open enemy unto you?” (Chapter #7, Verse #22)

6. POSING AS WELLWISHER

Then Shaitan (satan) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals”. (Chapter #7, Verse #20)-5-6-2 And he (Shaitan (satan)) swore by Allah to them both (saying): “Verily, I am one of the sincere wellwishers for you both.” (7-21)

7. COMMANDS FUHUSH [IMMORAL]

O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (satan). And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaitan (satan), then, verily he commands Al-Fahsha (i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.)), and Al-Munkar (disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islam, etc)). And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy on you, not one of you would ever have been pure from sins. But Allah purifies (guides to Islam) whom He wills, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Chapter #24, Verse #21)

8. MAKES EVIL APPEAR FAIRLOOKING

And (remember) when Shaitan (satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said, “No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help).” But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he ran away and said “Verily, I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment.” (8-48)–(satan)) commands you only what is evil and Fahsha (sinful), and that you should say against Allah what you know not. (2-169)- Verily, spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayateen (devils), and the Shaitan (Devil satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (6-43)- “I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allah, and Shaitan (satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allahs) Way, so they have no guidance,” (Chapter #47, Verse #25)- Lo! I found a woman ruling over them, and she hath been given (abundance) of all things, and hers is a mighty throne. I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allah; and Satan maketh their works fairseeming unto them, and debarreth them from the way (of Truth), so that they go not aright (27-24) 

9. CREATES FEAR

Shaitan (satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahsha (evil deeds, illegal sexual intercourse, sins etc.); whereas Allah promises you Forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures needs, All-Knower. Chapter #2, Verse #268) 5-9-2 It is only Shaitan (satan) that suggests to you the fear of his Auliya (supporters and friends (polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah and in His Messenger, Muhammad SAW)), so fear them not, but fear Me, if you are (true) believers. (Chapter #3, Verse #175) 

10. MAKES PEOPLE FORGET

And he said to the one whom he knew to be saved: “Mention me to your lord (i.e. your king, so as to get me out of the prison).” But Shaitan (satan) made him forget to mention it to his Lord (or satan made ((Yoosuf (Joseph)) to forget the remembrance of his Lord (Allah) as to ask for His Help, instead of others). So (Yoosuf (Joseph)) stayed in prison a few (more) years. (Chapter #12, Verse #42) (5-10)- And when you (Muhammad SAW) see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Quran) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic. And if Shaitan (satan) causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.). (Chapter #6, Verse #68)- He said:”Do you remember when we betook ourselves to the rock? I indeed forgot the fish, none but Shaitan (satan) made me forget to remember it. It took its course into the sea in a strange (way)!” (Chapter #18, Verse #63)–Shaitan (satan) has overtaken them. So he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Shaitan (satan). Verily, it is the party of Shaitan (satan) that will be the losers! (Chapter #58, Verse #19)

11. ABSOLVES HIMSELF OF ANY BLAME ON DAY OF JUDGEMENT

5-11-1 And Shaitan (satan) will say when the matter has been decided: “Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).” (Chapter #14, Verse #22), 5-11-2  “He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Quran) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need”. (Chapter #25, Verse #29)
