QIYAMAT OR DOOMS DAY

(78-1) What are they asking (one another)? (78-2) About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Qur’an, which Prophet Muhammad, pbuh brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc), (78-3) About which they are in disagreement. (78-4) Nay, they will come to know! (78-5) Nay, again, they will come to know! (78-17) Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, (78-18) The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); (78-19) And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, (78-20) And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. (78-21) Truly, Hell is a place of ambush.

(79-6) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (79-7) The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), (79-8) (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. (79-9) Their eyes cast down. (79-10) They say: “Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (79-11) “Even after we are crumbled bones?” (79-12) They say: “It would in that case, be a return with loss!” (79-13) But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). (79-14) When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death.

(80-33) Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection’s second blowing of Trumpet), (80-34) That Day shall a man flee from his brother, (80-35) And from his mother and his father, (80-36) And from his wife and his children. (80-37) Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. (80-38) Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). (80-39) Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). (80-40) And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; (80-41) Darkness will cover them. (80-42)Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His MessengerMuhammad (pbuh), etc), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers)

(81-1) When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). (81-2) And when the stars shall fall; (81-3) And when the mountains shall made to pass away; (81-4) And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; (81-5) And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; (81-6) And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow. (81-7) And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; (81-8) And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. (81-9) For what sin she was killed? (81-10) And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open. (81-11) And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; (81-12) And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. (81-13) And when Paradise shall be brought near, (81-14) (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). (81-15) So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). (81-16) And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, (81-17) And by the night as it departs; (81-18) And by the dawn as it brightens; (81-19) Verily, this is the Word (this Qur’an brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad ()]. (81-20) Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, (81-21) Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). (81-22) And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (pbuh) is not a madman).

(82-1) When the heaven is cleft asunder. (82-2) And when the stars have fallen and scattered; (82-3) And when the seas are burst forth; (82-4) And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents). (82-5) (Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).

(82-6) O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous? (82-7) Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; (82-8) In whatever form He willed, He put you together. (82-9) Nay! But you deny the Recompense (reward for good deeds and punishment for evil deeds).

(82-10) But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you,(82-11) Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds), (82-12) They know all that you do.

(82-13, 17) And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is? (82-18) Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is?

(82-19) (It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do) anything for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.

(83-1, 5) On a Great Day, (83-6) The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? (83-7) Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin.

(83-8) And what will make you know what Sijjin is? (83-9) A Register inscribed.(83-10) Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. (83-11) Those who deny the Day of Recompense. (83-12) And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner)!

(83-13) When Our Verses (of the Qur’an) are recited to him he says: “Tales of the ancients!” (83-14) Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. (83-15) Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. (83-16) Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. (83-17) Then, it will be said to them: “This is what you used to deny!”

(83-18) Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in ‘Illiyyun. (83-19) And what will make you know what ‘Illiyyun is? (83-20) A Register inscribed. (83-21) To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). (83-22) Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). (83-23) On thrones, looking (at all things). (83-24) You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. (83-25) They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. (83-26) The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). (83-27) It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. (83-28) A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. (83-29) Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. (83-30) And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); (83-31) And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; (83-32) And when they saw them, they said: “Verily! These have indeed gone astray”! (83-33) But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). (83-34) But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers (83-35) On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). (83-36) Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 

(84-1) When the heaven is split asunder, (84-2) And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; (84-3) And when the earth is stretched forth, (84-4) And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, (84-5) And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; (84-6) O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).

(84-7) Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, (84-8) He surely will receive an easy reckoning, (84-9) And will return to his family in joy!

(84-10) But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, (84-11) He will invoke (his) destruction, (84-12) And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. (84-13) Verily, he was among his people in joy! (84-14) Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! (84-15) Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!

(84-16) So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; (84-17) And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; (84-18) And by the moon when it is at the full, (84-19) You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).

(86-9) The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc). will be examined (as to their truth). (86-10) Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper.

(88-1) Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); (88-2) Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). (88-3) Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). (88-4) They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, (88-5) They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, (88-6) No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, (88-7) Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger.

(88-8) (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, (88-9) Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). (88-10) In a lofty Paradise. (88-11) Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, (88-12) Therein will be a running spring, (88-13) Therein will be thrones raised high, (88-14) And cups set at hand. (88-15) And cushions set in rows, (88-16) And rich carpets (all) spread out.

(88-25) Verily, to Us will be their return; (88-26) Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. (91-1) And by the sun and its brightness; (91-2) And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); (91-3) And by the day as it shows up (the sun’s) brightness; (91-4) And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); (91-5) And by the heaven and Him Who built it; (91-6) And by the earth and Him Who spread it, (91-7) And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; (91-8) Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; (91-9) Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). (91-10) And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds).

(99-1) When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake. (99-2) And when the earth throws out its burdens, (99-3) And man will say: “What is the matter with it?” (99-4) That Day it will declare its information (about all what happened over it of good or evil). (99-5) Because your Lord has inspired it. (99-6) That Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds. (99-7) So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. (99-8) And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. 

(100-9) Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are brought out and poured forth (all mankind is resurrected). (100-10) And that which is in the breasts (of men) shall be made known. (100-11) Verily, that Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) their Lord will be Well-Acquainted with them (as to their deeds), (and will reward them for their deeds).

(75-6) He asks: “When will be this Day of Resurrection”? (75-7) So, when the sight shall be dazed, (75-8) And the moon will be eclipsed, (75-9) And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc). (75-10) On that Day man will say: “Where (is the refuge) to flee?” (75-11) No! There is no refuge! (75-12) Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. (75-13) On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). (75-14) Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc). will speak about his deeds]. (75-15) Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds).
(75-22) Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). (75-23) Looking at their Lord (Allah); (75-24) And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), (75-25) Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; (75-26) Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), (75-27) And it will be said: “Who can cure him and save him from death?” (75-28) And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); (75-29) And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded). (75-30) The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! (75-31) So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Qur’an, in the Message of Muhammad ) nor prayed! (75-32) But on the contrary, he belied (this Qur’an and the Message of Muhammad) and turned away! (75-33) Then he walked in full pride to his family admiring himself! (75-34) Woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you! (75-35) Again, woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you!

(76-1) Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (76-2) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (76-3) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful.

(77-1) By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. (77-2) And by the winds that blow violently, (77-3) And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; (77-4) And by the Verses (of the Qur’an) that separate the right from the wrong. (77-5) And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, (77-6) To cut off all excuses or to warn; (77-7) Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. (77-8) Then when the stars lose their lights; (77-9) And when the heaven is cleft asunder; (77-10) And when the mountains are blown away; (77-11) And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; (77-12) For what Day are these signs postponed? (77-13) For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). (77-14) And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? (77-15) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-16) Did We not destroy the ancients? (77-17) So shall We make later generations to follow them. (77-18) Thus do We deal with the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)! (77-19) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-20) Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? (77-21) Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), (77-22) For a known period (determined by gestation)? (77-23) So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). (77-24) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-25) Have We not made the earth a receptacle? (77-26) For the living and the dead. (77-27) And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? (77-28) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-29) (It will be said to the disbelievers): “Depart you to that which you used to deny! (77-30) “Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, (77-21) “Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire”. (77-32) Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)], (77-33) As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)”. (77-34) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-35) That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), (77-36) And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. (77-37) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-38) That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! (77-39) So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allah)! (77-40) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-41) Verily, the Muttaqun (pious – see V.2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs. (77-42) And fruits, such as they desire. (77-43) “Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do. (77-44) Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun(good-doers). (77-45) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-46) (O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.). (77-47) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-48) And when it is said to them: “Bow down yourself (in prayer)!” They bow not down (offer not their prayers). (77-49) Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! (77-50)

Then in what statement after this (the Qur’an) will they believe?

(74-8) Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); (74-9) Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. (74-10) Far from easy for the disbelievers. (74-11) Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! (74-12) And then granted him resources in abundance. (74-13) And children to be by his side! (74-14) And made life smooth and comfortable for him! (74-15) After all that he desires that I should give more; (74-32) Nay, and by the moon, (74-33) And by the night when it withdraws, (74-34) And by the dawn when it brightens, (74-35) Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. (74-36) A warning to mankind, (74-37) To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), (74-38) Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, (74-39) Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); (74-40) In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, (74-41) About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc), (And they will say to them): (74-42) “What has caused you to enter Hell?” (74-43) They will say: “We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers)”. (74-44) Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); (74-45) “And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers . (74-46) “And we used to belie the Day of Recompense (74-47) “Until there came to us (the death) that is certain”. (74-48) So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. (74-49) Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? (74-50) As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. (74-51) Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. (74-52) Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc). (74-53) Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah’s punishment). (74-54) Nay, verily, this (Qur’an) is an admonition, (74-55) So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it). (74-56) And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins).

(70-5) So be patient (O Muhammad), with a good patience. (70-6) Verily! They see it (the torment) afar off, (70-7) But We see it (quite) near. (70-8) The Day that the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil, (or molten copper or silver or lead, etc.). (70-9) And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, (70-10) And no friend will ask of a friend, (70-11) Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], – the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. (70-12) And his wife and his brother, (70-13) And his kindred who sheltered him, (70-14) And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him. (70-15) By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell! (70-16) Taking away (burning completely) the head skin!

(75-38) Does every man of them hope to enter the Paradise of delight? (75-39) No, that is not like that! Verily, We have created them out of that which they know. (75-40) So I swear by the Lord of all [the three hundred and sixty (360)] points of sunrise and sunset in the east and the west that surely We are Able. (75-41) To replace them by (others) better than them; and We are not to be outrun. (75-42) So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they meet their Day which they are promised. (75-43) The Day when they will come out of the graves quickly as racing to a goal, (75-44) With their eyes lowered in fear and humility, ignominy covering them (all over)! That is the Day which they were promised! 

(69-1) The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (69-2) What is the Reality? (69-3) And what will make you know what the Reality is? (69-13) Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), (69-14) And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, (69-15) Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, (69-16) And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, (69-17) And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (69-18) That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. (69-19) Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: “Take, read my Record! (69-20) “Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!” (69-21) So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. (69-22) In a lofty Paradise, (69-23) The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. (69-24) Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! (69-25) But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: “I wish that I had not been given my Record! (69-26) “And that I had never known, how my Account is? (69-27) “I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! (69-28) “My wealth has not availed me, (69-29) “My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!” (69-30) (It will be said): “Seize him and fetter him, (69-31) Then throw him in the blazing Fire. (69-32) “Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!” (69-33) Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great.

(67-6) And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allah) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination. (67-7) When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth. (67-8) It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: “Did no warner come to you”? (67-9) They will say: “Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: ‘Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error’. (67-10) And they will say: “Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!” (67-11) Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire. (67-12) Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). (67-13) And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men). (67-14) Should not He Who has created know? And He is the Most Kind and Courteous (to His slaves) All-Aware (of everything). (67-15) He it is, Who has made the earth subservient to you (i.e. easy for you to walk, to live and to do agriculture on it, etc.), so walk in the path thereof and eat of His provision, and to Him will be the Resurrection. (67-16) Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah).

(75-13) On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). (75-14) Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. (75-15) Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). (75-16) Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur’an, O Muhammad) to make haste therewith. (75-17) It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad) the ability to recite it (the Qur’an, will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)? Or do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not send against you a violent whirlwind? Then you shall know how (terrible) has been My Warning?
